New for Schools! Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed: A Guide for School Personnel.

Together with the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP), the U.S. Department of Education, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Association of School Nurses, and other organizations, your American Diabetes Association has produced a new diabetes resource for schools. And, best yet, it's free. The guide launched nationwide on June 13, 2003, and is available for free download from the NDEP Web site.

Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed: A Guide for School Personnel explains what schools should do to make sure students with diabetes are medically safe and have the same access to educational opportunities as all students.

The guide includes an primer on diabetes, information on what various school personnel need to know, forms for providing medical information, an overview of applicable federal law, and a resource list.

Visit the NDEP Web site to download the guide, or download a copy of the order form to mail or fax your order.

Download Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed today, or tell your child's school nurse or teacher about the resource.
