OVERVIEW
The American Diabetes Association invites
you to attend a research symposium on inflammation, diabetes, and
cardiovascular disease. In addition to original research presented
during poster sessions, this activity will focus on the emerging science
and clinical implications in diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Presentations will highlight the role of inflammation in diabetes and
cardiovascular disease.
This conference is being conducted
through the American Diabetes Association-American College of
Cardiology’s (ACC) Make the Link! Diabetes, Heart Disease and Stroke
Initiative. It is supported, in part, by unrestricted educational grants

The program is intended for scientists,
physicians, and other health care professionals with an interest in the
role of inflammation in diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It will
provide a valuable opportunity for collaboration with other
investigators in the field.
OBJECTIVES

attendee will be able to:
- Summarize the latest research on the
role of inflammation in diabetes and cardiovascular disease
- Describe the pathophysiological
mechanisms linking inflammation to insulin resistance
- Assess recent research on
environmental and genetic triggers of inflammation
- Analyze data on effectiveness of
lifestyle modification and pharmacological therapy on reducing
inflammation
- Interpret the clinical implications of
inflammation in diabetes and cardiovascular disease
